My book Defining Israel: The Jewish State, Democracy, and the Law is now available for order. This book originated with a forum on Marginalia about Israel’s nation-state law after disagreement about whether to pass such a law led to the dissolution of Israel’s previous Knesset at the end of 2014. Defining Israel has been a work in progress since then, and the final volume reflects the passage of a basic law defining Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people in July of 2018.
Defining Israel includes my introductory essay, English translations of all of the key texts, 16 essays by leading scholars and politicians, and interviews I conducted with Tzipi Livni and Ruth Calderon.
The book can be purchased here.
